Extension of Due Date - Powers u/s 119 - A case of colonial streak of arrogance?

Arrogance, no doubt

At last after the muddle on the last date, some semblance of wisdom prevails in CBDT, at least after directions of many HCs. Finally the last date for filing IT Returns for Tax Audit cases is extended upto 31.10.2015, by way of 119 order. The CBDT appears to have a specific agenda of tarnishing the liberal image of the Government.

Even then, the CBDT could not do it with elan, as the press release moans that the extension is allowed "... in view of paucity of time to approach the Hon'ble SC by way of SLP...".

Sheer graceless arrogance of the Babudom has manifested itself. It's a shame.
